For the next installment of "In the Light Bulb Room" series of conversational forums, the Ralph Ellison Foundation is very proud to screen the documentary film "From Swastika to Jim Crow" in the cinema at The Paramount OKC. The film (2000, 1 hr.) examines the development of early cross-cultural partnerships important to the American Civil Rights movement as it recounts how European Jewish intellectuals, fleeing Hitler in the 1930s and 40s, found teaching positions at historically Black colleges in the American South. A moderated discussion session will follow the film.
Now more than ever, we are committed to providing a safe space for open and honest conversation about race, prejudice, and the societal challenges that confront our turbulent times. We hope you'll join us and our partners at the Respect Diversity Foundation, the Temple B'nai Israel - OKC, and the East 6th Street Christian Church as we come together in the service of building bridges and fostering multicultural community in Oklahoma City in a spirit of mutual understanding, enlightenment, and solidarity.
